hi.... mes thinks i got a vrus.....i closed all windows and went to reboot......running win98se.......rebooted and wouldn`t reboot....won`t go to safe mode.......error massege missing............/windows\system\msvcrt.dll............ :?: ......went to dos.....to try to enter.......or try a scan from c:command for virus....any suggestions? ty..................emmer5

Okay. First things first. This is 'The Lounge' forum. You wanna post in the 'Windows 95/98' Support forum.

Secondly, try constructing ONE full sentence, at least one to help us understand you. Infact, make it a nicely detailed paragraph.

We are going to need the exact error message that your getting.

In the meantime,you can try this

Download msvcrt.dll from

Extract it to a floppy
Get back to dos on the 98 machine,pop in the floppy and make sure your prompt is set to the floppy directory.

Usually
A:>

Type the command as follows:
copy msvcrt.dll c:\windows\system

Remove the floppy and reboot.Let us know if that gets you back up.
