Problem with IE, can't reformat either

Postby chrisk » Fri Aug 29, 2003 12:26 am

My son was deleting programs by right clicking folder and deleting!! Of course, problems occurred. IE browser has "encountered problems". Get error popup whenever login to interent attempted.Cannot log onto internet via cable modem. Tried to repair IE under add/remove program w/o luck. Attempted to load IE program from MSN disk. Same error popup.Figure I would do a reformat of hard drive and start over, no big deal. Restart in DOS mode, cannot type any character. Keyboard works fine in Windows. Checked connections, etc. I need help please!!

Have you tried booting from a boot floppy?
You can get a win98 boot disk from
Boot from the floppy that you make from the file you downloaded.
Select Without cd rom support you should now be able to format your hard drive.
After rebooting from the format,( floppy still in drive ) Select With CD rom support, dorp in you OS CD and you are ready to have a nice clean install.
