Windows ME boots up for days

hello all,

i have been trying to refurbish a computer to use as a word processor for my roommates.
it was running ME, and i shut it down to transport it, now when i tried to turn it back on it loaded the OS for going on 3 days right now---do you guys/girls have any suggestion on what to do when it finally loads??

If its been on that long and still booting, it doesn't sound good. Is the drive making a clicking noise? It sounds as if the controler on the Hard Drive has gone bad.

You mise well turn it off and call it quits---try another drive to be sure.

Are you able to boot into safe mode??



Restart the computer.
As the computer restarts, press and hold down the F8 key until the Windows 98 startup menu appears.
Choose Safe mode from the startup menu, and then press Enter. Windows starts in Safe mode.

when i got home from work last night, it was all booted up--which is promising

i am a little concerned to reboot, but i will get back to this thread on the safe mode.

sorry, i spend alot of time at work/not enough at home.
