Windows Me error! Please help!

Alright! This is my first post here, and I would very much appreciate any help you guys can offer. Sadly, I'm incompetent when it comes to computers.

Anyhow..! For the past few days, whenever I turn on my computer, I get this error. It reads as this:

Explorer has caused an error in ISFRARED.DLL.
Explorer will now close

If I proceed and click close, my computer, well.. Since I don't know any jargon, I'll try to explain:
The items on my desktop dissappear, while the wallpaper remains. I have the cursor, but there's nothing to click onto.

So.. Help? I want to get rid of this troublesome error..

Hi Xa_

Do you have all your critical updates and security patches from Windows Update?
Now I m not sure if you can do this in ME but if you go to Add/Remove Programs and click on Microsoft IE 6 SP1 and Internet tools you can click on it and click add/remove. Now a seperate window will pop up where you have 3 choices, click the middle one repair IE. I know 98 has this feature but not sure about ME.

IE ver.5 and newer all have this Repair Option.
If for some reason it isn't in Add/Remove Programs you can use the
Internet Explorer Repair tool from a command prompt:

Start - Run and Copy then paste this into the box, because it's case sensitive, etc.:

rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE6Maintenance "C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\Setup\SETUP.EXE"
/g "C:\WINDOWS\IE Uninstall Log.Txt"

Btw, Internet Explorer is integrated into Windows, so it can't be completely removed
without a third party app.

Ok:
I have all the security patches.

I tried the repair option, but I get this error:
Internet Explorer 6 could not be reparied.
Please run setup again to reinstall all components.
Details..
Internet Explorer 6 could not be repaired due to the following errors.
Version 8.0.7820.0 of file MSXML3A.DLL exists, but the version needs to be greater than 8.0.7916.0.

I scanned for viruses. It appears I have some "uncleanable" ones =(. Also, I have scanned with both Spybot and AdAware.

Well..! I still get that annoying error whenever I start up my PC.

I also have a couple of other problems. When I run Internet Explorer my homepage changes at times. I read parasites? do this. Any idea how I could get rid of these?

Hmph.. My PC seems to be full of problems. Thanks for the replys so far though! If anyone has time to help me fix these "problems," I would be very grateful.

On the side note, shall I post a copy of the Log File from HiJackThis?
