hi,

i have a PC with a dial-up connection via 56k modem.
So in order to help people, i decided to do the upgrading of their soft via microsoft downloads for them via my broadband router.. But what i run into is this : After i install a network card, I change the setting in internet Options / connections from "always choose my standard connection" to "never choose a connection" . But when i start internet, it says there is currently no internet connection available, and when i click try again it says page cannot be displayed. I think I'm overlooking some basic thing but I don't see it right now.

Any help is appreciated

After the NIC was installed and configed...did you goto:
START>RUN>WINIPCFG and set the IP again.

right on - i did not. that's what i said i overlooked something soooo basic
