Right, I'm really sorry if this has been covered in another thread, but I haven't got time to search...my connection is very dodgy at the mo!
I'll start at the beginning, n see how far I can get!! lol

I downloaded an image converter this morning....(can't remember what it was called, sorry!) after installation I had to reboot to complete the install. This is where the problems started. First my Incredimail wouldn't respond (I kno, I kno, Incredimail is frowned upon in here...but nuts to you all!!!! I LOVE it!!!! lol) then I noticed that Norton Internet Security wasn't working either.
I uninstalled the image converter, which proceeded to do a roll back? Anyhoo, I rebooted & kept my fingers crossed..... :| to no avail.

I decided to reinstall Norton, but when I tried to uninstall via add/remove programs I got this message

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM\MSIEXEC.EXE
Abnormal Program Termination

So.....I risked going online to symantec site and downloaded the Rnav2003.exe removal program....after a bit of a hassle, I managed to uninstall Norton completely....Hooray!
After a 2 & half hour pre-installation system scan, I finally reinstalled Norton....but when the installation was nearly complete, I got the same warning message as when I tried to uninstall!
Norton Anti virus is working, but not the internet security!

Various programs on my desktop do not open or respond when double clicked, and when I reboot I get this message

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\PROGRAM FILES\NORTON INTERNET SECURITY\INTROWIZ.EXE
Abnormal Program Termination

Internet connection is variable, with or without rebooting, I'll be online one minute (like now!!!) n then lose connection.

It's driving me mad!
Please.....does anyone have any idea as to whats going on?!

btw, I'm using WinME!!!!

Can you use your "System Restore" to revert to a time before the install?

lol...
Re-Boot your pc...
Just keep tapping F8 till your options popup
Choose DosMode
Type: scanreg/restore
Pick a restore point

That should get you in there.

Cactus

You can click your START button choose Shutdown>Restart in Dos Mode

There is no WinME DOS mode. If you wish to have DOS mode, go to www.bootdisk.com and select the ME bootdisk.

I don't think scanreg/restore will fix it, but it won't harm it if it's really gone.

Do you have an ME CD?

Thanks for all the info & suggestions!
It got to the point where I couldn't do ANYTHING, so I took the easy way out and reformatted!
Was no biggy, all I lost was a few mp3's. I'm currently downloading all the programs I had before.....dolly will be back to her old self in no time!!! lol

Tell ya what tho, I don't have many problems with dolly, but it's nice to know I can get some help in here when I need to....I just wish I knew more so I could help others!!! I'll just have keep plodding on with my IT course, then maybe I'll have something useful in my brain instead of kids tv theme tunes & wondering what mp3 to download next! lol :wink:

Thanks again folks!!!
