when i go to add/remove programs and click on
"Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 SP1 and Internet Tools",
and then click "Restore the previous Windows
configuration", it goes through most of it, but at the end
it says, "Setup failed to uninstall properly." What is
wrong? i need to get ie 5.5 back because microsoft word
will not open with ie6 installed. What do i do?

Does IE6 work correctly and your only problem is that MS Word does not work? If that is the case then maybe you need to repair MS Word instead of repairing or uninstalling IE6.

You are probably having a problem reverting back to a previous version of IE because you do not have all the files that are required backup on your PC. You may have to install IE 5.5 over the top of IE6 if you decide this is what you want to do.

my only problem is ms word, but i already re-installed it, but that didnt help. i have windows me, and i have heard this is a typical problem with ie 6. how do u re-install ie5.5 over ie6? i have tried to run ie5setup, but it says it detects a new version of ie installed, and the setup cannot continue.
