IE Error!!!!

I'm having problem with Internet Explorer 6. For the few days I've been trying to open IE but every time i did it says "performing illegal operations". Even when I was trying to save something like winword or others, I downloaded HijackThis but couldn't save any log as it'd close by itself.sometimes when I right click on a file to delete, it states the same thing. Is there a need for me to reformat the pc?


I did repair, reinstall few times but the same thing happened over again. I have optimized the registry(I don't know if it's right) by using TuneUp Utilities 2004 and S&D to removed bugs and spywares from the pc with Ad-Aware 6.0. I was using a program called The Cleaner but I have uninstalled it because I'm afraid it might be the cause. I hope it can be helped and fixed.Thanks.

First I'd try this:
Click Start, point to Settings, click Control Panel, and then double-click Add/Remove Programs.
On the Windows Setup tab, click to clear the Online Services check box.
Click OK.
Close Control Panel.

Next, I'd go to Start / Run / Type: sfc and click "Ok". Now click the "Start" button. You may be prompted for your install CD or you can point the repair to your Window's Cab files.
