help... is this a problem?

Postby goo » Fri Mar 05, 2004 11:20 pm

i start my computer... just after the Windows ME screen (on boot) it goes back to a dos screen right? where you can see the specs and other hardware stuff like IRQs.... then the screen clears out and the only thing that's left is a dos prompt at the top left of the screen. this goes on for about 5 seconds... then windows loads... nothing seems wrong here... but i noticed that when i use the pc for about 30 minutes it won't shut down. after choosing to shut it down it just closes windows and the dos prompt returns again... this time it does not load anything... i'm just forced to reset or turn it off and run scan disk... then shut it down properly. after this, it shuts down normally... can anyone tell is this a problem?

I too concur that Windows ME is problematic in many ways.
Microsoft has an article on how to troubleshoot Windows Me shutdown problems.
You can read it
