HOW DO I UNINSTALL 98 AFTER I INSTALLED XP

I HAD PROBLEMS AFTER INSTALLING XP AND WHEN I COULD NOT GET ON I RE INSTALLED 98..IT ASKED IF I WANTED TO REPLACE EXISTING FILES AND I SAID NO. NOT REALIZING IT WOULD LEAVE XP ON MY COMPUTER BUT NOT WHERE I COULD GET TO IT EXCEPT UPON BOOTING UP WHEN IT GIVES ME THE OPTION OF CHOOSING ONE OR THE OTHER. ONE DAY I CHOSE THE XP OPTION AS I WAS RE BOOTING AND WHEN IT CAME UP IT WAS WORKING FINE BUT NOW I DO NOT KNOW HOW TO GET RID OF THE 98... THERE IS NOTHING IN THE INSTALL/UNINSTALL FOLDER THAT DEALS WITH IT. NO WHERE ON MY COMPUTER CAN I FIND IT. ONLY ON RE BOOT I CAN CHOOSE IT BUT NOT UNINSTALL IT????[/code]

First, can I ask you not to post in all capital letters? It hurts my eyes and it makes it seem like you are yelling.

Second, there is no real uninstall for Win98. However, you can make it so it never boots into Win98 again.

It's just an extra boot menu option, fortunately this is easy to fix.

Click Start, right click on My Computer, and click Properties.

Click the Advanced tab.

Under "Startup and Recovery", click Settings.

Here, in the "Default operating system" drop down box, you will see two choices. You can manually edit your boot.ini, the file containing the list of operating systems that can be booted, but I would not recommend this unless you're familiar with boot.ini's cryptic format.

If you get it wrong, your system isn't going to boot anymore and it can be ugly to get fixed. The easy, trouble-free way to get rid of this menu is to just uncheck the "Time to display list of operating
systems" box, and make sure XP is selected in the drop down box.

Click OK, and click OK again. Then restart your system, and you'll see the boot menu is gone.
