Postby Gman » Wed Dec 17, 2003 10:17 pm

My PC is not functioning properly at all, so I want to reformat (i think this i the right word) were my PC was the same as i first bought it. as you can probaly tell im no pc expert. Im using ME and using a packard bell iconnect pc. i follow the instuction that are with my recovery disk but my pc does not seem to recongnise the disk. It recongizes other floppy's and CD roms but not the recovery disk.

Is there any way of reformatting my pc or antbody had similar thing and know what to do?

Apreciated for any help in advance, thanks rick.

Is the disk a genuine windows CD, or is it a recovery CD? What are the instructions on the CD?

sorry i forgot to say that the recovery disk is a floppy packard bell recovery disk.

This is the instructions for it:

-Turn system off
-Insert the floppy disk lablled RECOVERY DISK into your floppy drive
-Turn sytem on
After a while, a warning message apears. Please read it carefully.Press enter to continue or escape to exit.

When I turn my system back on it just boots up as normal :(

Do you see your Floppy drive flashing when you boot with it in?
You may have to check your BIOS at startup. Check under "Advanced" and look for "Floppy Drive Seek at Boot" (or to that effect) and enable it.
If you can't find it in the BIOS it may be here: Right Click the "My Computer" Icon / Properties / Performance Tab / File System Button / Floppy Disk Tab / Put a check in the box next to "Search for new floppy..."
If the above doesn't help then try below.
Do you have the Recovery or Operating System CD? If so, create a Startup Disk as I explained in the thread above and try.
