trying to setup my 1st ftp server

ok i'm just really dazed out...i opened my port 21 by disabling the IIS service....i'm using bulletproof ftp server *read the topic about it, but it didn't help me much *

can anyone access this...

i've opened ports 20 and 21 *least i hope i did lol*

192.168.1.100 is an internal IP address... numbering schemes 10.X.X.X and 192.168.X.X are designed for internal use through a proxy server or router (such as a broadband router). No one will be able to ping that address across the internet.

Supposing you have a broadband router you'll need to browse to it, and see what IP address is assigned to your internet connection. The router will likely be at 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.254.

You'll also need to tell your router to forward requests for port 21 to your internal IP address (192.168.1.100)

Broadband routers are nice, but they do make sharing FTP or Internet servers very difficult.

Also, assuming you're on broadband you will probably find that your IP address for your internet connection will probably change periodically. So that poeple can always connect to your server, go to www.no-ip.com and get yourself a dynamic dns name (eg reaper.no-ip.com). You run the client software on your machine & everytime your ip changes it updates the dynamic dns name. Thus people will always be able to connect to your server by accessing ftp://reaper.no-ip.com no matter what your ip
