DVD burning issues...

Postby RpgLord » Thu Nov 18, 2004 1:59 pm

I've got a CD-R/RW and DVD-R/RW writer combo drive - MATSHITA DVD-RAM SW-9581. I thought that it only burned CD-R's until recently.
Anyway, my problem is that I can burn video files onto blank DVD-R's with "video compression: DivX codec'' and get the DVD to open on my PC so that I can get to and play the files. But, if my DVD has one video file with "video compression: Xvid" the DVD freezes/lags up my comp, making the same sort of noises a DVD player would if inserted with unchanged formats, and the disk doesn't open. Xvid files play on my PC, I have most the codecs needed since I download anime every week. Does anyone by any chance understand why I can't play DVD's I've burned onto that with "video compression: Xvid"? =P

PS: I've only tried burning those two video files to DVD's so far. I have however burned both types to CD-R's and CD-R's open up on my PC.... o.0

HHmm strange, my guess would be that its compressed strangly (xvid) and it wont burn, what i would suggest doing would be to change the xvid to divx codec. I know Dr Divx does this as i own it, but i dont know if there are any free programs 2 change the codec. Maby have a hunt round.

I'm using Nero Express to burn, TDK DVD-R's to burn onto...although I originally tried a Datewrite DVD-R, where I found my Xvid issue.

It seems to burn the Xvid files onto the DVD, the DVD just doesn't seem to work when Xvid files are burned onto it. =/

Oh, and I tried to get Dr Divx from Kazaa. So far, I downloaded version 1.02 where the keygen serials didn't work with it and I download version 1.04 which didn't work at all. >.<
Would anyone be nice to enough to explain to me how to use Dr Divx to turn a Xvid video to a Divx video just in case I can get my hands on it?
