Im having a good time palying with this, even if the site sits idle it will have been a learning experience.

One quick question, when you make changes on the site should you back up the database each time you make the changes?

What I would recommend that once you get the site like you want it,
use ws_ftp and copy everything in the httpdocs/Forums directory to your hard drive, including subdirectories
Then also backup the database to your hard drive using phpMyAdmin through your site control panel.
