dvd camcorder!??

my sister kept on bugging my to help her search for a dvd Camcorder.

can someone tell me the quality of the recorded dvd compare to the recorded MiniDV?

Lastly, Can you just use a regular DVD-R disk you buy from newegg.com to use on your dvd camcorder or do you have to buy special DVD-R disk?
