Hi! I'm New! A Place For Newcomers To Say Hi...

Postby InFamousKon » Thu Feb 02, 2006 4:17 am

Hi! I'm new... literally.

I'm starting this thread for people that are new or old to introduce or reintroduce yourselves.

I want everyone to know that my name is Dee and I'm obsessed with computers now. I have been ever since my computer broke down about 3 and a half months ago. Ever since then I've been taking apart and putting back together and reading and now I have plans to build my own computer for gaming purposes.

But before I do, I want to try and fix my computer that broke down on me.

I'm a professional tattoo artist and have been for the last 5 and a half years. And I'm obsessive with that too. I learn new things every day tattooing and now this is the way it is with computers for me.

I'm also an auto mechanic and love building hotrods. Right now I'm building a '64 Chevy Impala and I have come to learn that messing with computers is just like building a HotRod.

You have your dual quad chips, your double barrel processors, your 512MB RAM air intake and all that good stuff. In the past 3 and a half months I've learned about processors, MBs, AMD 64s, Athlon, RAM, ISO files, BIN files, NERO burners, ripping, burning, downloading, G-Force graphics cards...

AND the most important thing that I've learned so far: Is to read the system requirements before you buy any game. Also read if it's an online game only. This will save you some headaches. Luckily in my case, buying without reading has only increased my interest in computers.

Okay, I guess that's enough about me.

I hope to have a long lasting relationship with everyone on this forum b/c I believe computers is the next obsession in my life and I don't see this obsession ending anytime soon. With all the new stuff in computers that comes out every day, it will keep my interest peaked for a long time to come.

Thank you, come again. :pimp:

InFamousKon,

Sorry for the thread hijacking and for not giving you a proper welcome before this.
Social graces is not my strong point, by any means, it’s the biker in me I guess but I do try.

Welcome to the forum InFamousKon,
This really is a friendly place with people more than will to help others resolve their problems.

I go by Gecko and have for many years, long before the internet.
I currently own and operate a small computer repair business.
I specialize in spyware, malware, trojan and virus removal, this accounts for about 65% of my work load.
About 20% is hardware replacement and/or system reloads, 10% used systems resale and about 5% for building custom systems.

I spent over 25 years in the printed circuit board design and manufacturing industries.
I started using computers when the first autocad came out, I used it to do circuit board designs and layouts.
Over the years I worked my way up to Plant Manager of a 10,000sq ft facility employing 90 people on two shifts.
When I left there I swore I would never work for someone else again and I haven’t.

I’m an avid motorcyclist and have been for almost 40 years now, if it’s not raining I’m taking the bike.

Once again welcome aboard and please excuse me if I have offended you in any way.
