My PC has passed on..Funeral arrangements are now underway
Its a very difficult thing to go through and i hope no one here ever has to experience it. At 9:32 PM on March 17th 2005, "Beast" took a turn for the worse. He fought a valiant fight but just couldnt go on any longer. Beast's motherboard had slowly started to fail, he had been showing signs over the last few weeks but i kept denying it. It started with mouse clicks not registering, keystrokes being missed and progressed to random freezes. I starting running multiple test but he always came back clean on software and peripheral hardware. He eventually moved into the rebooting stage then came the video glitches. Sudden black screens or complete lock ups even at idle took place, a video card and memory transplant had no affect. Beast finally booted for the last time so now i'll let him rest. He had only lived to be just over 2 years old, way to young to die. He was called beast simply because he was a beast at heart, his ending system specs were the following:
Motherboard: ECS K7S5A v3.1/5 pci/1-4X AGP/1-AMR/
Processor: AMD XP 2000+
Memory: 512 MB DDR PC2700
Video: 128 MB Nvidia GeForce 4 MX440se
HDD: 120 GB IBM Deskstar 7200rpm IDE
LAN: Onboard SiS 10/100
Sound: Onboard Cmedia
Case: Antec Full ATX
PSU: Antec True 350
Cooling: 4-80mm Blue LED fans/Thermaltake Volcano 9 CPU HS/Fan
CD Drives: Iomega 4X DVD+-RW/Lite-on 16X DVD Rom
He wasnt the strongest around but he brought me to the end of several game titles and countless video and photo projects. Doom 3, Far Cry, StarWars Battlefront, Ghost Recon, UT2003 and 2004, Halo, HL1 and 2 were several of our favorites. On top of that, he carried my home network as a server, sharing numerous files, printer and internet access to 3 other systems. Beast also hosted many lan parties as a game server. He went through several cosmetic changes, like different paint schemes, added a side window and gave him a face. It wont be the same without him. Rest in peace my friend, rest in peace.
