Microsoft Plans Online Music Store

Microsoft Corp., hoping to take a bite out of Apple Computer Inc.'s highly popular online music service, is gearing up to launch its own Web site for selling songs over the Internet.

.....Microsoft has come from behind plenty of times and still managed to dominate, thanks to its broad reach with products like Windows and ability to play catch-up quickly.

In basic terms, Microsoft Corp.'s new digital music store comes down to this: Download songs for 99 cents each, then listen to them on a computer, burn them to a CD or transfer them to a portable music player.

I guess the more competition in a markt the better, but I just wish they'd make them all interoperable when it comes to getting music onto your mp3 jukebox of choice :(
