'Stop error screen' when shutting down

Postby foggy458 » Thu Apr 05, 2012 2:26 am

A problem has been detected and Windows has been shut down to prevent damage to your computer.

If this is the first time you've seen this Stop error screen, restart your computer. If this screen appears again, follow these steps:

Check to be sure you have adequate disk space. If a driver is identified in the stop message, disable the driver or check with the manufacturer for driver updates. Try changing video adapters.

Check with your hardware vendorsfor any BIOS updates. Disable BIOS memory options such as caching or shadowing. If you need to use Safe Mode to remove or disable components, restart your computer, press F8 to select Advanced Startup options, and then select Safe Mode.

Technical information:

*** STOP 0x0000007E (0xC0000005, 0x8F5D4A20, 0x8DC2F6A0)

*** ctxs51.sys - Address 8F5D4A20 base at 8F5D2000, DateStamp 3ecc364b

Collecting data for crash dump ...
Initializing disk for crash dump ...
Beginning dump of physical memory.
Dumping physical memory to disk: 100
Physical memory dump complete.
Contact your system admin or technical support group for further assistance.

This is the message that appears every time I try to shut down my computer. After the message appears, the computer won't shut down. ( The message appears on a blue screen ).

Will someone please tell me what is wrong with my PC and how I can fix it,

:? :? :? :? :? Thanks :? :? :? :? :?

1. Any recent hardware/software installed? If hardware, try disconnecting it and check if issue remains.
2. Type "sfc /scannow" in elevated command prompt.
3. Boot to safemode and check if the same thing happens when shutting down the PC.
4. Restore the computer to a working state using System Restore.
5. If the issue is not resolved, feel free to contact me. I specialize in home i.t. service. :)
