acer.empowering.franework.launcher.exe

Postby mastrmaverick » Sat Apr 07, 2007 3:00 am

Hi,

I recently purchased an Acer notebook which I am very happy with. It came with Acer empowering system with widgets on the desktop, showing power status etc. I noticed that these widgets no longer appear and that "Acer.empowering.framework.launcher.exe" process is taking up about 90-98% of my CPU.

Does anyone know of what the problem is? Where it came from? and most importantly, how to fix this?

I don't know how it happened in the first place and when I delete the process, my laptop works fine. However everytime I reboot or attempt anything with Power Management, this rears it's ugly head again.

Thanks in advance for at least taking the time to read this.

Wesley

Hello and welcome mastrmaverick,

Could you give us the model # of the notebook?

Also, lets take a look in the event viewer and see whats happening

Go to Start > Control panel > Administrative tools > Event viewer > look in the system section.

You are looking for any red or yellow icons, double click on the icon.
Click inside the 'Description' section then highlight the text and copy and paste it into notepad.
At the bottom of the event window check 'words' and then copy and paste that text also
Then past it all into your reply to this thread.

If you don't show any errors in the event viewer then:
Go to Start > Control Panel > System > Advanced tab > Startup and Recovery section
Settings button > System Failure section > check the box 'Write an event to the system log'

OK...I took a look at the event viewer and was copying and pasting, and then realized that there were a LOT of errors. To be exact, 67 yellow "Warning" and 600 red "Error" Messages.

The laptop is an Acer "Aspire 5100-3583"

well that definatly falls in the "a lot" category

Lets look at the red errors, starting with the most recent ones. Chances are most of them are the same error just repeating itself. Please see if im correct on that and post the error. The same should apply to the warnings, check for similarity and post accordingly.
