Your best bet is a recovery program and a separate HDD
This is the best one that I know of Easy Recovery Pro it has always worked for me.

Sorry to bump and old thread but I tried to use this software to recover information on an accidental reformatted HD. I used the trial version but it will not let me write the selected files to be recovered to an external USB 2.0 drive. It keeps telling me it cannot do it because the source is on the same partition? It's not...am I doing something wrong or will the trial version of Pro not do this?

Your help is greatly appreciated.

So it sound like you cannot recover with the trial version only Identify and view recoverable data :(

Thanks for the responce Gecko.

I cannot afford to purchase that recovery utilityas it is fairly pricey.

I need a utility that can recover a formatted HD that doesn't cost an arm and a leg, any other possible suggestions?
