ssprop.vxd error from liz182oo4

Postby liljim » Sat Jul 10, 2004 4:21 am

The following was sent to me in a PM, this is a win98 machine

liz182oo4 wrote:Hey sorry to bother you........what my computer is doing is when I start it up it goes to a black screen and says

Cannot find device file that may be needed to run windows or a windows application.

The windows registry or SYSTEM.INI file refers to this device file, but the device file no longer exists.

If you deleted this file on purpose try uninstalling the associated application using its uninstall or setup program.

If you still want to use the application associated with this device file, try reinstalling that application to replace the missing file.
C:\WINDOWS\system\ssprop.vxd
press any key to continue

then a couple times it went to another screen that had different modes to run on and it told me to run on safe mode and worked but it went back to nothin on the computer and it was empty like it was when we first got to computer but it was freezing up so i shut it down manually and it did the same thing but that time it when to a green screen with all my old Icons that was on it before it messed up.........but it wouldn't let any of them open i had to reinstall everything........when i shut it down now its still sayin all that stuff that i worte up at the top of the page but i just keep pressin any key to continue and after about 3 times my screen comes up.

could you please try to help me?

Liz,the first thing im going to recommend is a virus scan. Please visit Trend Micro and run a full scan.If your on dialup,it can take quite a while so be patient.

I posted this here so some of our other fine members can further help you.

You can download it from here: ssprop.vxd and put it in: C:\Windows\System
