When did this problem start?
Did you just install or update anything?
Have you done a complete virus scan?

You need an Anti-Virus Program.
Go to this Link for a free Scan: Trend-Micro.

Then if you can afford an AV Program, I recommend: Panda. There are other very good Programs available, just get one.
If you want a free one I recommend: AVG-Free Edition.

I'd also suggest that you Download / Install / Update / and Run:
SpyBot.
And:
Ad-aware.

Post back with your results.

You did not answer part of brads question. How long have you had this problem? With Windows ME you are able to restore the system to a previous point in time so if this has not been happening too long it might be worth trying this.

Download / install / and Update: HiJackThis. Now Run it and post a copy of the Log File here.
**(Always create a Folder for HiJackThis anywhere but your Temp/Temporary Internet Folders. This is where it will save the backup files needed if there's a problem.)**

Well, you do have an Anti-Virus Program.... Norton.
Please post the whole Log File next time. (Top part)

Press Ctrl/Alt/Del and "End Task" or "End Process" on each of the following: (They may or may not be there)

NHTDPQ.EXE
jyxcoi.exe
ACROMEDM.exe
heah.exe
msmc.exe

Turn off System Restore. (Turn it back on after this is repaired and you've rebooted.)
(This would also include the “GoBack” Program if it is installed.)
Close all other open Windows and have HiJackThis Fix:

Go to Control Panel / Add/Remove Programs and remove the following if they are there:

Ok...Do the repairs I posted.
After you've finished fixing this problem I strongly recommend that you visit the Windows Update Site and download the Critical Updates.

After you are done, post a new HJT Log File.

Try this:
Ctrl / Alt / Del and choose "End Task" on these:
WAOL.EXE
SHELLMON.EXE
AOLWBSPD.EXE

Can you reboot now?
