Auto Search POP-UP

Postby Cactus » Tue Jul 22, 2003 12:03 am

Hi...I have this search window popping up after a few minutes of my browser being openned.
It opens FULL SCREEN,and hitting Control-ALT-DEL does not close it...it freezes.
When you open it a pop up box opens asking for search words.
This is very annoying.
Anybody know what Company is doing this to people?
How do I get rid of it??
I run AD-Aware6 and SPYBOT SEARCH and its gone for as long as I keep the pc running. But next boot its back!!!!

HELPPPPPP!!!

Cactus..... Have you updated Ad-aware and SpyBot? What about your Anti-Virus? Have you checked in MSCONFIG for wierd programs that are starting? What new programs have you installed recently? What are your system specs.? brad

Thanks...
Yes I have Updated both and downloaded nothing new.
I run a PIII-1000Mhz on a cable connection.
Its some sort of spyware but I can't figure out where its coming from?
Anybody else out there having the same problem?
If we can figure out who is doing this can they not be charged?
We could at least start sending their server viruses!!!

Any help would be appreciated.

Cactus.... Did you look in Msconfig / Startup? Is there an item there called "Search"? If so, uncheck it. Re-boot computer and try again. Are there any other new items in Msconfig?
