avg error message

Postby glass » Sat Apr 30, 2016 5:04 pm

Hi,
For the past week or so, when I start up my computer --winxp sp3-- I get this error message,
''avg secure search update encountered a problem and needs to close''
I've been using avg free edition for years and never had avg search installed
in ie or firefox, the only browers I ever use.
Virus scans find nothing and a search of the computer cannot find any
mention of avg securesearch.exe
thanks
angelo

Found the problem, 2 files in services.msc were to run on start up.
Deleted them and it's ok now.

seems using the "msconfig" command to check on the startup option may be helpful as well.

Hope this helps.
