Design Contest?????

Postby Aaron » Thu Aug 14, 2003 5:28 pm

i was thinking about having a design competition, where users would design something of regulated dimensions and filesize, then i would judge them, based on a set of criteria to see who was the best. i think it would be cool, but if noone is intersted it will be a waste of time. if you would be willing to participate in something like this, or have ideas on how it should work, please post here so i will have an idea of wheather or not it is worth the time.

This is an awesome idea! You want to compete to design a cool site?

I like this idea!
Would this include or exclude moderators in the competition?
And if it does exclude moderators then can my wife enter?
How about designing a new skin for this forum?

I think that's a killer idea if you can drum up the interest. For my part I'm extremely untalented graphics-wise, but I love seeing what other people can do :)

Nothing to lose from trying :)

i would say that anyone who wants to could enter, including mods. the only exception would be the judge. another way to handle it would be to hold a vote though, that way noone would have to judge and be excluded from the competition. the main problem is still going to be getting enough people interested in doing it though. having it be something useful to the forum, likea skin or layout would be nice also, that way it servers a purpose.

Rules
1. I am the boss.
2. The boss is always right.
3. If the boss is wrong, see rule number 2.

Seriously, after looking into what all it takes to make a theme, I think that it might be too much to ask for a contest.
We always setup our standard web site for 800 x 600 pixels so I would suggest that we use this size, as it is the most common screen resolution according to all the web stats that I see.
I also think we should put a limit on the file size like 500 kb max, to accommodate the dial-up members.
